‘M.O.T.H’
MOTORISED ORGANIC TECHNOHUMAN HELLSCAPE
10 April - 03 September 2025
Sancho’s Dirty Laundry Pocket Gallery, Braddon ACT
M.O.T.H was the fourth solo exhibition by the artist Thom Crowhurst. It presented a series of works that meditated on humanity’s evolution, and the unsettling possibilities of our technological future.
”It was a real marathon creating this series. Originally intended to only have some minor embellishments, they really spiralled into pushing my practice and creativity to it’s limits. My main focus on these works was to meditate over what we are turning into as a species, and to explore possible outcomes over time as humanity draws ever closer to technological convergence. Some are more human than others, but all of them (to some degree) paint a pretty hellish picture of whats to come”.

Spray paint and marker on boards (14x18cm)
"I painted this hellish thing as a darkly satirical warning to those planning on voting for a certain politician on the 3rd of May, to consider that all is never what it seems. That a far more troubling reality may be lurking beneath the surface, and that this crooked, freakish bully may represent something much more sinister than we are led to believe. A complex void of layered lies, corruption, manipulation and deceit. Scum within scum."

Acrylic, spray paint, marker and charcoal on unstretched canvas (210x210cm)
”These were the last paintings I made while living in Glasgow in 2023. Though a little grim in nature they were created during one of the happiest times in my life. I was full of hope, love and excitement for the future, even though the haunting truth of returning to Canberra and all my worldly responsibilities loomed closer than ever. They’re bittersweet expressions of a simpler time”
- on ‘Goodbye Glasgow’, 2023 (1, 2 & 5 of 5)
Mixed media on canvas (30x42cm)
